| I sometimes use this technique to get an underpainting of local color. I lay down a thin layer of pastel in the colors I want, then using alcohol, I carefully brush over each color cleaning my brush in between to keep the colors pure. The alcohol dries quickly and dissolves the pastel particles providing nice rich color. I then proceed with the many layers of pastel. |
