Brenda is a pastel painter first and foremost. When time allows, she shares her artistic skills and unique way of looking at color with students so that they can create a work of art during the workshop.

A school visit from the pastel painter, Brenda Ferguson, consists of three eighty minute classroom workshops, usually two in the morning and one in the afternoon. Having worked in public schools for many years, Brenda knows how to connect with students. A sample workshop is below.

The school must provide the pastels and Brenda provides the professional grade pastel paper and also the subject matter for the still life. The fee is $500/day (or $400/half-day) plus travel from Dixmont, Maine.

Some of the Thank You Letters to Brenda

Dear Brenda,

I really appreciate you visiting our classroom. The students fully enjoyed being able to create with pastels. They all listened and applied what you taught. You are not only a wonderful artist, but also teacher. Our art work is hanging in the hall and has had many compliments. Thank you again.

From
Vicki Bailey

PS I am also inspired.

Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

Thank you for visiting our class! You really inspired me. You are a great artist! The best thing I learned during our visit was that even for great artists it is still hard for them to picture a picture in your head.

Thanks.

Deanna

Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

Thank you for your help. It was very kind of you to help us with our art. I learned a lot of things when you came for example I learned shadows can be different colors not just black and gray. Well, thank you again.

Your friend,

Katie

Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

Thank you for coming in and giving us an art lesson. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for teaching us to paint and blend pastels. Thank you for teaching me. I was so inspired that I went home, took out my pastels and drew. I had so much fun!

Thanks,

Nicholas

Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

Thank you for coming to teach our class how to see different colors in our still life. You inspired me to look deeper into myself and the still life. You inspired me to paint what I saw and how it doesn't matter if it doesn't come out perfect the first time as long as you do your best.

From,

Samantha

Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

Thank you for coming into our classroom. You helped me learn that everyone has there own personality. I also learned to shade the colors.

Sincerely,

Steven

Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

I learned that you use sand paper for a piece of paper. I use chalk pastels a lot. Thank you for coming! It was fun.

Lucas

Note: Lucas is Brenda's son.
