| On a drizzly Saturday afternoon in April, patrons gathered at the Bangor Public Library for an afternoon filled with color. | |

 They came to view art... and they came to create art. |
|
 Our daughter Sadie came along to help. At one point, she was 'starving!' Not to worry, Sadie. We had plenty of still lifes to munch on. |
|
 We set up still life stations throughout the Stairwell Gallery. |
|
 And invited people to come and try pastels. No experience necessary. |
|
 At 1:00 folks began gathering. They came with an open mind, a willingness to try, and a desire to create. They were provided with drawing boards, sanded paper and trays of soft pastels. |
|
 After sharing a few tips, |
|
 everyone chose a comfortable spot and began playing. |
|
 There was time for individual assistance and for asking and answering lots of questions about pastels. |
|
 Some painted, some browsed... |
|
 |
 ...and all enjoyed themselves. |
