| Stage one consists of determining the placement and composition within the framework of the paper. I then lay in the initial layers of pastels beginning with the darkest values. |

| Stage two involves refining the composition and more layering of colors to cover the surface of the paper and to create depth and form. |
|||||

| The final stages include refining colors, sharpening some and losing other edges, heightening the contrast where needed, and adding details. |

| Rather than printing an image, I often paint directly from my computer monitor using reference photos I've taken myself. I found this casual ewe years ago at the Commonground Agricultural Fair. |
