The Blues Abstract
This is the scratch/test pad from outside
the painting area that shows the colors used.

These two paintings are in the collection of the noted Icelandic artist, Gunnella. Seen above at her home in Garðabær, Iceland, Gunnella is standing in front of one of her early works holding her latest art acquisitions. Visit Gunnella's site at: www.gunnella.info

These are little personal glimpses of me. I love to use the little antique dishes, platters, and saucers that I've inherited or picked up at antique shops to hold my pastel palette for each painting. It's just one of those simple pleasures for me, like owning a big basket of wool yarn or using nice thick handmade papers and a smooth flowing beautiful pen to write with.

The saucer here is actually an old one that belonged to a friend's grandmother. She has inherited lots of beautiful sets of dishes that I always admire. One day she presented me with this one saying she knows how much I appreciate them and wanted me to have a small part of the set. Those are the things I value most. I also wholeheartedly believe in using and enjoying them instead of letting them sit untouched on some shelf or attic somewhere.
